Guide to the Galapagos Islands
Galapagos Penguins
Tintoreras ($80)
Tintoreras is a group of small rock clusters just off of the coast of the town in Isabela. You can take a kayaking tour or a boat tour, both of which will include snorkeling. While snorkeling, you might see fish, turtles, sea lions, and marine iguanas. You will likely see at least a few Galápagos Penguins here, because they nest here. This is one of the few day tours that you can take to see Galápagos penguins; The other tours (with the exception of Bartolome) are multi day.
Bartolome Island ($200)
Bartolome Island is an island between Santa Cruz and Isabela. It is most known for the opportunity to see Galápagos penguins and its famous lookout point. The tour can be a great option if you want to see a few penguins but will not have time to do the Tintoreras tour on Isabela island. You will take a hike onto the island to the lookout point, with the chance of seeing boobies along the way. When snorkeling, you will have the chance to see fish, sea lions, sea turtles, and even penguins.
